Cave Hill Heritage Foundation

A new page has been written in the history of Cave Hill Cemetery through the creation of the Cave Hill Heritage Foundation.  Realizing the cemetery is approaching a point in time when it will one day be filled to capacity, something had to be done to help preserve adequate funding for the future.  Created in 2004 by the foresight of the Board of Managers and cemetery management, the Cave Hill Heritage Foundation is working to further the mission of providing a wonderful showpiece for the city of Louisville and a comfortable place to memorialize and mourn loved ones.

The foundation is the fundraising entity of the cemetery company that charges itself with accumulating funds that will be set aside to help preserve existing structures and memorials, promote educational and community offerings, and support the flora and fauna that Cave Hill Cemetery has exhibited for over 150 years. Structured as a 501 (c) (3) public charity, the foundation generates funds via the following methods: fund drives, special events and programs, research requests, guided tours, donations, and grant acquisition.  Patrons of the foundation may also elect to make contributions by: donating estates, stocks and bonds, making a bequest in a will or insurance policy, or providing through living trusts. As a 501 (c) (3) public charity, funds that are donated are tax deductible. However, it is recommended that you consult with your tax advisor about the deductibility of your donation.

Anyone wishing to receive more information regarding the Cave Hill Heritage Foundation should call our Administration Office at 451-5630, or stop by for a visit.  We are always open to accepting new ideas regarding events that you would like to see happen involving the further acquisition of funds.  As always, we are truly dedicated to the promotion of a safe haven in a bustling city where history is truly written in stone.
