Would you like your lot landscaped???

Cave Hill Cemetery provides General Care with income from our Preservation Fund for all lots in the Cemetery. General Care, funded at the time a lot is purchased, includes mowing the grounds, road maintenance, building repair, wall repair, leaf removal, tree and shrub planting and other general maintenance on our property. Fifty percent (50%) of your lot purchase goes into our irrevocable Preservation Fund to provide this care. State law requires a 20% contribution.

In addition to General Care, you can arrange for Special Service on your lot. Special Services available include mowing and trimming of turf on a weekly basis, turf fertilization and weed control, landscaping, groundcover, monument cleaning, flower beds, Christmas wreaths, cut flowers and other services. Please check with the Administrative Office regarding this service to see if it is available on your lot. Special Services are funded by two methods- Annual Care and Endowed Care.


Endowed Care is the arrangement whereby you provide a sum of money to be invested in a Trust Fund to earn yearly income to pay for improvements and services on your lot. This is similar to a personal savings account. The Cemetery can use only the income from the Endowment Fund. The principle is not used. If you want shrubs or trees planted on the lot you must have an endowment. Annual Care is not accepted for shrub and tree planting. Each endowment is “custom made” for your lot and the cost depends entirely on the services that you request. Under Annual Care, you are billed each January for special services to be performed on your lot during the year.

Under General Care you cannot plant anything on your lot. However, if you would like additional services you can arrange for Special Service on your lot. Special Services available include: mowing and trimming of turf on a weekly basis, turf fertilization and weed control, landscaping, groundcovers, monument cleaning, flower beds, Christmas wreaths, cut flowers and other services. Some of the preceding services may not be available in your particular section or on your lot. This can be funded with Annual Care or Endowed Care.
