Where to Meet for Programs: Most tours begin at the Broadway Entrance of Cave Hill Cemetery, located at 701 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY 40204. However, a few do begin at the Grinstead Entrance, at 2395 Grinstead Dr. Please check this information carefully.

Veterans Day Flag-In

Flags4Vets Invites Louisville Area Volunteers to help place flags on 7,500 Veterans Graves at Cave Hill Cemetery for Veterans Day

You must park your car and gather at Breckinridge School, 1351 Payne Street, which is within 100 feet of the U.S. Military Section of Cave Hill Cemetery. We will enter the cemetery as a group.

DO NOT ENTER CAVE HILL BY ANY OTHER GATE

Strollers and wagons are OK. No bikes or pets allowed.

Historical Walking Tour

Enjoy a walking tour with our docents as they journeys through the historic sections of Cave Hill Cemetery, from the cemetery’s founding in 1848 to the early 1900s when the cemetery expanded to the northeast cemetery property. 2025 is the 177th anniversary of our lovely Victorian-era garden-style Cemetery. The story of Louisville’s early history lies with the legacy of the families interred in Cave Hill.

Topics discussed on tours include: decorative monuments, selected landscape features, trees and shrubs, Louisville history, and much more. Cave Hill Cemetery was chartered in 1848 and contains the gravesites of many notable Louisvillians, such as city leader George Rogers Clark, Kentucky Derby founder Meriwether Lewis Clark Jr., and Pete Browning, whose cracked bat led to Louisville Slugger fame.
